History of ICT
The first glimpse of this type of technology dates back to the end of the Second World War when the first computers were born, a kind of electronic calculator that could be programmed and had quite high computing performance.
After a long period of research and development, the transmission of information between computers connected to the network started in the Sixties, it will be only one aspect of a more general phenomenon: the convergence and the progressive integration of technologies of information with those of telecommunications. These two sectors developed independently for a long time, but in the 1970s, computer technologies began to integrate with telecommunications, and with the subsequent spread of personal computers, a new era began.
The real ICTs were born in the first years of the new millennium, from the union of information technologies (IT) and communication technologies (CT), merging different components, such as computing, telecommunications, l electronics, media and bringing to life the modern use of the internet and smartphones.
The rapid global diffusion of ICT technologies has created a real digital revolution that is still ongoing in modern societies, characterized by highly connected users.
